Winners, Past and Present (We plan to post future winners as well, but until I figure out how to turn the toaster into a time machine, we'll have to wait until they become current or past winners)
Games:
So hopefully I'll be able to put some real games up sometime soon. And if I'm very, very, very lucky, a friend of mine who does some programming will be putting up a link to some really nifty games that he's going to be working on over the next couple of months.
But for now this is less a game page and more of a 'challenge' page. The current challenge? TITLES
CONTEST 2: The Perfect Title!
The Situation:
It's called "Writer's Block" and it happens to all of us, sooner or later. It isn't that we don't have ideas, ideas are easy, but ideas need fuel, and sometimes we just don't feel inspired. You feel like it's all been done before and that every word you write looks like the same thing you wrote last week. You need something fresh. Something kooky. Well I'm here for you, kiddo. A few months ago I heard of a technique for getting over writer's block: you write down a bunch of bizarre chapter headings on slips of paper, fold up the slips, and put them in a hat. Then you mix it up and pull one out, and that's the title of your first chapter. I love the idea, but sometimes when you're in a rut, you can't even write down a title that looks good. So lets build some lists now! (for legal purposes I'd like to state that every title submitted is to be open for use by anyone who uses this site, including myself. we're building a list for public use, people)The contest:
Stage 1: Give me a title. Ideally it'll work as the title of a book, or a chapter.Stage 2: Depending on how many titles I'm given, I'll either post them all at once, to be combed through and voted upon, or, if you give me a lot to work with, I'll post different lists on regular intervals, then present the winners from each group to be voted upon.
Stage 3: Again, depending on how many titles I'm offered I will either post all of the chapter titles, so that when the day comes that you need them, you can come back and pick a few, or if there are too many for that, I'll post the winners for the same purpose.
The reward:
You want to know what you'll GET? You greedy bastard! Seriously, though, you'll get a list of chapter titles. Dude, that kind of thing is damned helpful! Also, some day, years from now, you'll grab a book of a bookshelf somewhere, skim through, and find yourself looking at a chapter title that you contributed. Actually, I can't promise that, but it could definitely happen. Oh, you'll also get the second spot in the Archive of Winners. There the winner's name, the game that they won, and their winning submission will be posted for the world to see. You can even bookmark the page so you can show your friends at work and stare at it when you come home, reliving that warm fuzzy feeling over and over again. And really, what more can you ask for (please don't answer that).Rules:
Please submit original titles only. I don't think that chapter titles are copywrited, but we're writers, we're supposed to be artists, freethinkers, all that jazz.Send your submissions to ross_writer@yahoo.com with, 'Title contest' in the subject line.

I know, I know, a round of applause doesn't translate well onto the computer screen. Maybe just a simple 'Thank you'.
Ahem: Thank you.
