Welcome:
Hello, my beloved readers!
For you readers
Please check out my writing samples.
Hey, I made this page to show off my writing, you gotta read a little.
Also Consider
For all your reading needs. Also of note, the Reader's cove has begun paying store credit for used books.
Take a look at my links page.
Among other things, you'll find links to the pages of other writers I know. If my writing doesn't fit your interest, theirs might.
Well, I want to be an author and I’ve discovered that being a writer and becoming an author are two very different things.
(On a side note, this does beg the question: if I become published, will I shut down this site and open up RossAuthor.com? Mmmmm, probably not. I plan on forcing everyone I know, at penpoint if necessary, to put links from any website they might have to this, and making people change the link later just sounds like too much work.)
The difference, you ask? That's getting into personal definitions. For me, being a writer is a question of identity. Writing, storytelling, that's part of my identity, and whatever happens in my life, even if I never publish a story, even if nobody ever reads a word I write, I'll keep on writing, because I have to. I don't know how to stop. Being an author, on the other hand, that's a career path. My goal is to become an author, because I want to make a living doing this thing that I love.
What does that pursuit have to do with this website? Everything. Being a writer is about writing. Being an author is about getting people to read what you've written. More accurately, it's about getting a lot of people to want to read what you've written so much that they'll pay money for the pleasure. But with a surreal number of books coming out every year, and with fewer and fewer people willing to invest in a good book, how does a writer get the readers to unite and make him an author? He has to get their attention.
I don't expect this website to do the job by itself, but if I can convert a few of you into loyal readers, that's a step in the right direction.
